Feeling Festive: Five Favorite Holiday Songs

OK guys. It's Black Friday. And you know what that means...it's officially Christmas season!!!

Personally, I don't like to start celebrating Christmas until my turkey coma wears off, because stuffing your face and watching football a tradition that should never be overlooked. But now that the holidays are here, it's time to get down and dirty and put on the Christmas jams. I wait all year to start listening to Christmas music, and even though I sometimes do this weird thing where I play N*SYNC's Christmas album in July, it's just not the same as it is when there's snow on the ground. I even have a whole Spotify playlist dedicated to Christmas albums, and it's getting pretty darn long.

So because running down my favorite Christmas albums would take me until Christmas, I'm going to go with my all-time favorite holiday songs instead. Because choosing five songs is way easier than picking one album that screams Christmas more than hundreds of others that try to do the same. With that said, these are by no means the best holiday songs ever made, they're just my favorites. Except for numbers one and two, which are actually two of the best Christmas songs ever recorded and that's a fact.

5. 'I Want A Hippopotamous For Christmas' by Gayla Peevey

To most people, this song probably sounds like a cheese grater is being scraped over your ears, but I for some reason am enamored with it and always turn it up in the car to the dismay of my family.

*Sidenote: I just found out the artist's name and OF COURSE that's the name of the voice that sings this song.

4. 'Last Christmas' by WHAM!

I know everyone and their mother has covered this song, and some of the covers are actually great, but George Michael wrote it, so he gets the spot.

3. 'Believe' by Josh Groban

So The Polar Express is my favorite Christmas movie EVER and this song is the the cherry on top. Josh Groban's voice is like actual butter in my ears and the whole thing with "believe" and the bell and ugh it's just great.

Honorable mention to 'When Christmas Comes to Town' bc that song freaking gets me every time.

And picking between the top two was a really hard decision but I finally made it so:

2, 'My Only Wish' by Britney Spears

If you know me even slightly you know how much I love Britney Spears, and this gem of a Christmas song is pure pop perfection.

1. 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' by Mariah Carey

You know you love this song. The world loves this song. It is the Christmas anthem.

What's your favorite Christmas song?
